Presumption against replacement of listed dwellings
The Council operates a presumption against proposals for the replacement of a listed dwelling unless there are exceptional circumstances, as demolition of listed buildings is not permitted unless every effort has been made to retain it.
Policy DM 32 indicates that the demolition of a Listed Building will not be permitted unless it can be clearly demonstrated that every effort has been made to retain it. The Council will therefore operate a presumption against proposals for the replacement of a listed dwelling unless there are exceptional circumstances.
