Accessible Design for People with Disabilities
The Department gives sympathetic consideration to extensions or alterations required for people with disabilities or impaired mobility, and may exceptionally relax policy criteria when imaginative and innovative design approaches are explored to meet specific accessibility needs.
The Department will give sympathetic consideration to proposals where an extension or alteration is required for a person with a disability or whose mobility is otherwise impaired. If imaginative and innovative design approaches are fully explored the Department believes it is generally possible to provide a satisfactory solution in line with the policy. The specific needs of a person with a disability are however an important material consideration and exceptionally the policy criteria may be relaxed to meet these needs.
