Street Lighting in Historic Areas

Street lighting equipment should be selected to be appropriate to the age and character of historic surroundings, with consideration given to special designs reflecting local styles, but simple modern designs are often preferable to off-the-peg period columns and lanterns.

The selection of street lighting equipment appropriate to the age and character of its surroundings is also important in historic areas.
