RDS target for housing on vacant and underutilised land
Where new housing land identification is required, sites will be selected to align with the Regional Development Strategy target of locating 60% of new homes on existing vacant and underutilised land within the urban footprint of settlements over 5,000 population.
Whilst the majority of zoned housing sites are likely to be delivered through existing housing commitments, where a location specific need for new housing land arises, the identification of new sites will be undertaken in line with the RDS target to locate 60% of new homes on existing vacant and underutilised land within the urban footprint of settlements over 5,000 population.
