Redevelopment of economic sites for alternative rural uses
Existing economic development sites in the countryside may be redeveloped for other appropriate rural uses such as tourism or recreation, provided criteria are met and no loss of industrial estate land occurs, with flexibility limited to a narrow range of uses.
The redevelopment of existing economic development sites in the countryside for other uses considered appropriate in a rural area, such as a tourism or recreation facility, will be permitted where the proposal meets the above criteria and approval would not mean the loss of land currently in use as an industrial estate. This flexibility for redevelopment proposals other than for economic development will only apply to a limited range of uses.
