Service employment and Class B1 development focus
City and town centres remain the primary focus for service employment expansion, though Class B1 development related to high technology and knowledge-driven uses may be grouped in industrial or business parks where there are economic benefits.
City and town centres will continue to be the primary focus for expanding service employment, as advocated by the RDS. The Department, however, also recognises that some Class B1 development centred on activities such as communications and computer software design are clearly closely related to high technology knowledge-driven light industrial uses, and that there are economic and other benefits in grouping such uses in industrial/business parks.
