DARD Rural Strategy Framework

The Department of Agriculture and Rural Development's Rural Strategy (2006) provides strategic direction for rural development in Northern Ireland from 2007-2013, aligned with the EU Rural Development Programme to protect rural environments and support sustainable rural businesses.

The Department of Agriculture and Rural Development's Rural Strategy, published in October 2006, seeks to provide a broad strategic direction and framework for rural development policy in Northern Ireland and to facilitate a co-ordinated and co-operative approach to rural development over the period 2007-2013. It fits within, and is an integral part of, the broader DARD Strategic Plan 2006-2011. It also takes account of the 2007-2013 EU Rural Development Programme which aims to protect and enhance the rural environment and to contribute to the development of competitive and sustainable rural businesses and thriving rural communities.
