Regional gateways for economic development

Regional gateways are identified as suitable locations for major economic development, freight distribution, and employment generation, particularly on strategic transport corridors and at well-accessed edge-of-town locations.

Great importance is placed on the identified regional gateways as suitable locations for major economic development, freight distribution activities and additional employment generation. The RDS emphasises the promotion and exploitation of the potential for economic development at selected locations on the strategic network of key transport corridors and links, facilitating the clustering of engineering and high technology office type businesses and providing appropriate locations for transport dependent industries at well-accessed locations normally on the edge of towns.
