Disability Discrimination Act 1995 and reasonable adjustments

The Disability Discrimination Act 1995 makes it unlawful to discriminate against disabled people. Service providers must make 'reasonable adjustments' to remove or overcome physical barriers to access.

The needs of disabled people are explicitly recognised in the Disability Discrimination Act 1995 (DDA). This legislation has introduced measures to make it unlawful to discriminate against disabled people and with the introduction of the final phase of the Act service providers are now obliged to make 'reasonable adjustments' to remove or overcome physical barriers to access.
