Parking Restraint

Development plans may designate parking restraint areas where reduced car parking standards apply, typically in settlements over 10,000 population, with varying reduction levels across different zones based on accessibility characteristics.

As part of an overall parking strategy, development plans may designate areas of parking restraint within which a reduction from published car parking standards will be applied. It is unlikely in the short term that such areas will be brought forward in settlements of less than 10,000 population. In larger settlements several zones with varying levels of reduction may be identified to reflect their differing characteristics and levels of accessibility.
