Access - Design and Visibility

New accesses in the countryside are often visually prominent and can be more obtrusive than the building itself. Conditions removing permitted development rights for boundary features may be necessary to preserve rural amenity and character.

New accesses are often a visible feature of new buildings in the countryside and on occasion can be more obtrusive than the building itself, particularly if they include ornate walls, gates and fencing. Accordingly it will often be necessary to attach a condition removing permitted development rights for such boundary features in the interests of preserving the amenity and rural character of an area.
