For the purposes of this statement, a tourism asset is defined as any feature associated with the built or natural environment which is of intrinsic interest to tourists. There are many diverse features or combinations of features associated with the natural and built heritage in Northern Ireland which are of intrinsic interest to tourists. Some examples may include Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Conservation Areas and historical and archaeological sites. However this is not an exhaustive list. Future development plans that incorporate a tourism strategy will identify key tourism assets within the Plan area.
