Tourism in Rural Development Strategy
Tourism is integrated into rural development priorities, with DETI leading revenue creation from visitors in rural areas and DOE promoting sustainable use of natural and built heritage for rural tourism.
tourism is specifically included in two of the actions listed in the Action Plan. Firstly, there is an ongoing commitment that DETI as the lead Department will continue to support opportunities for revenue creation from visitors in rural areas through leading on the implementation of a Tourism 'Priorities for Action' Plan. Secondly, that DOE as the lead Department will seek to increase the contribution made by rural tourism by promoting the sustainable use of our natural and built heritage.
