Uncertainty in Future Flood Risk Assessment
Flood risk is expected to increase due to climate change, but significant uncertainty exists regarding how particular areas of Northern Ireland will be affected, both regarding the degree of climate change and its implications for rainfall patterns and land permeability.
Whilst flood risk is generally expected to increase in response to climate change, there is uncertainty surrounding the flood risks that particular areas of Northern Ireland face both today and in the future. This uncertainty applies both to the degree of climate change that will occur, and the implications this will have for rainfall patterns, and the permeability of the land.
