Flood Risk Assessment requirements for reservoir flooding

Flood Risk Assessments are required for all development except minor development in potential reservoir flood inundation areas, addressing controlled and uncontrolled releases, flow paths, depths, velocities, and emergency evacuation procedures.

A Flood Risk Assessment will be required for all development proposals, except for minor development, within the potential flood inundation areas of controlled reservoirs. This must address the controlled and uncontrolled release of flood water from the reservoir and should normally include a map showing flow paths, depths and velocities of the flood water. The Flood Risk Assessment should also provide for an emergency evacuation plan that can demonstrate the safe access and egress for emergency services and people during times of flooding. The detail required in the Flood Risk Assessment will be proportionate to the flood risk.
