High Quality Transportation and Sustainable Mobility

High quality transportation links support economic development and inward investment. The Council seeks to reduce private car dependency, promote active and sustainable transport choices, and improve health and wellbeing while mitigating climate change impacts.

High quality transportation links facilitate the effective and efficient movement of people, goods and services across the Borough and support inward investment and help maintain a vibrant economy. Promoting greater accessibility and encouraging a modal shift away from car use will help to improve health and wellbeing and assist in mitigating the detrimental impacts of climate change. The Council acknowledges that reliance on the private car which currently dominates modal choice in our Borough must be reduced, and support provided to those who rely solely on public transport for mobility. The Council therefore wishes to encourage more active and sustainable transport choices in order to improve both quality of life and quality of place. The Council for its part is committed to working with its partners to improve accessibility and connectivity. A key aim is the integration of transportation and land use in ways which enable people to carry out their everyday activities with less need to travel and with the maximum modal choice.
