Exemptions for Statutory Flood Alleviation and Drainage Schemes

Artificial modifications to watercourses undertaken by public bodies as part of flood alleviation or drainage infrastructure carried out under statutory responsibilities are normally exempt from planning permission, though other approvals may still be required.

Any artificial modification of a watercourse as part of a flood alleviation or drainage infrastructure scheme carried out by a public body in pursuance of its statutory responsibilities will normally be exempt from planning permission. However approvals may still be required from the relevant authority.
