Accessibility Standards for Public Transport Vehicles
Public transport vehicles including buses, coaches, and trains must be made accessible to people with disabilities and wheelchair users, and regulatory standards apply to these services and taxi services.
Making public transport vehicles accessible to people with disabilities, including people who use wheelchairs is fundamental to creating a transport system which contributes to a more inclusive society. In Northern Ireland regulations have been introduced to set accessibility standards for buses, coaches and trains. The Department of the Environment is responsible for the regulatory system for taxi services.
