Public Transport Improvements and Facilities

Development should include public transport links from housing developments, modern communication systems, bus priority measures, park and ride facilities, and accessible facilities for pedestrians and cyclists to transport interchanges.

provision of public transport links from new housing developments to public transport interchanges; the use of modern communication developments, such as real time information systems, to improve public transport; facilitating schemes to enhance and prioritise bus services on the RSTN by providing ancillary facilities and accommodating carriageway improvements. These may include carriageway alterations to facilitate bus priority measures, park and ride facilities and the provision of bus stop 'Super Shelters' in settlements, where a larger facility would not be viable; and the provision of realistic access routes and appropriate facilities for both pedestrians and cyclists to all public transport interchanges.
