Disused Rail Stations and Rail Infrastructure
Disused rail stations on operational rail lines will be protected for potential re-opening to serve suburban, urban and rural locations. On major development sites adjoining rail lines, land may be reserved for future rail infrastructure including park and ride facilities and cycling interchanges.
Rail stations, which are not in use along operational rail lines will be protected, with a view to a possible re-opening in order to link rail services into suburban or smaller urban and rural locations. In major development sites adjoining rail lines, land may be reserved for the possible future development of rail infrastructure. In certain cases, this may include park and ride/share facilities and interchange facilities for cyclists.
