Sustainability Appraisal
PPS 13 was subjected to Sustainability Appraisal to ensure systematic assessment of potential environmental and quality-of-life impacts and to verify the policy contributes to sustainable development objectives.
As good practice, this PPS was subjected to Sustainability Appraisal in anticipation of the July 2004 deadline for compliance with the European Directive on Strategic Environmental Appraisal (SEA). The purpose of the Sustainability Appraisal is to ensure that the PPS has been systematically assessed and revised during its preparation in the light of potential impacts on the environment and quality of life. It ensures that the policy contributes to the globally accepted objectives of sustainable development.
