Social Rented Housing Need Assessment
The Social Rented Housing Needs Assessment (HNA) evaluates households requiring housing assistance from Registered Social Landlords such as NIHE or Housing Associations. It focuses on General Needs social housing applicants but excludes Supported Housing with associated care provisions.
Social Rented Housing Need focuses on those households who require their housing needs to be met by a Registered Social Landlord (RSL) i.e. the NIHE or a Housing Association. Social rented accommodation is subsidised through government funding (Housing Benefit and Housing Association Grant) and is therefore deemed affordable housing.
The Social Rented HNA will assess those applicants requiring "General Needs" social housing. It does not include a need assessment for "Supported Housing" i.e. housing with associated support provision catering for a range of specific housing needs required by individuals, for example, those leaving the health care system, probation services or certain vulnerable homeless.
