Retail Assessment Requirement for District and Local Centres
A Retail Assessment is required for retail development proposals exceeding 1,000m² gross floor space in District and Local Centres, including extensions that would result in total development over 1,000m² gross external area. The assessment must cover need, impact, and sequential test considerations.
A Retail Assessment will be required for any development proposal that involves an increase of more than 1,000m2 (gross) of retail floor space in District and Local Centres. The Retail Assessment should provide a proportionate response to the proposal being sought and incorporate an assessment of need, impact and the sequential test. This includes applications for an extension(s) which would result in the overall development exceeding 1,000m2 (gross) external area.
