Justification 10.4: Development near Wastewater Treatment Works
Development near wastewater treatment works must avoid loss of amenity from odour nuisance, with planning applications subject to material considerations regarding potential adverse impacts on neighbouring land uses.
In relation to development proposed in the vicinity of WWTW's the potential adverse impact of existing or approved infrastructure upon neighbouring land uses will be a material consideration in the determination of planning applications for the development of that land. In particular, planning applications involving land within the vicinity of WWTWs will not be approved where there would be a loss of amenity from odour nuisance.
