Justification 10.3: Landfill Sites and Hazardous Waste Treatment

This is particularly important in relation to landfill sites as the EU Landfill Directive, when implemented, will require landfill sites or areas within landfill sites to be dedicated specifically to the deposit of special or hazardous waste. The Hazardous Waste Directive will extend the list of hazardous substances that should not be landfilled. As a result new waste treatment facilities will be needed to treat hazardous waste.
