Policy WM 5: Development in the vicinity of Waste Management Facilities

Development proposals near existing or approved waste management facilities and wastewater treatment works must not prejudice facility operations or cause unacceptable adverse impacts on people, transportation, or the environment.

Proposals involving the development of land in the vicinity of existing or approved waste management facilities and waste water treatment works (WWTWs), will only be permitted where all the following criteria are met: • it will not prejudice or unduly restrict activities permitted to be carried out within the waste management facility; and • it will not give rise to unacceptable adverse impacts in terms of people, transportation systems or the environment.
