Reduction in the amount of waste being landfilled

The Landfill Directive requires substantial reduction in biodegradable municipal waste being landfilled and pre-treatment of all waste sent to landfill. A development's contribution to reducing landfilled waste through waste minimisation or integrated waste management is a material planning consideration.

The Landfill Directive requires a substantial reduction in the amount of biodegradable municipal waste being landfilled and the pre-treatment of all waste sent to landfill. The contribution a proposed development makes to reducing the amount of waste being landfilled by waste minimisation or integrated waste management is a material planning consideration as is the extent of pre-treatment and its effect in minimising reusable materials going to land fill.
