Policy Objectives for Telecommunications

The main objectives of this Statement are to: • facilitate the continuing development of telecommunications infrastructure in an efficient and effective manner; • ensure that where appropriate new telecommunications development is accommodated by mast and site sharing; • ensure that the visual and environmental impact of telecommunications development is kept to a minimum; • minimise, as far as practicable, undue interference that may be caused to terrestrial television broadcasting services by new development; and • encourage appropriate provision for telecommunications systems in the design of other forms of development.
