Safety requirements for power-operated vehicular doors and gates
Power-operated doors and gates for vehicular traffic must have pressure-sensitive edges to prevent trapping, an accessible stop switch, and provisions for manual or automatic opening during power failure.
A power operated door or gate designed and constructed for vehicular traffic should have –
(a) a pressure sensitive edge or other suitable device, which operates the power switch to prevent users being caught or trapped;
(b) a readily identifiable and accessible stop switch; and
(c) provision for manual or automatic opening in the event of a power failure.
