Landing level and surface requirements
Landings must be level except at ground level where they may slope up to 1 in 20 for private stairs or 1 in 60 for other stairs, and ground-formed landings must be paved or made firm.
Landings should be level unless they are formed by the ground at the top or bottom of a flight where they may have a gradient not greater than – (a) 1 in 20 in the case of a private stair; or (b) 1 in 60 for all other stairs. Landings formed by the ground should be paved or otherwise made firm.
