Council Information Requests for Noise Assessment

The council may request sound power levels of machinery and calculated sound pressure levels measured at specified distances from the site boundary and nearest sensitive premises, typically provided as a noise impact assessment.

The council may request further information regarding the application, such as: • the sound power levels of individual pieces of machinery (e.g. fan and motor units), which is obtainable from manufacturers and suppliers; and • details of the calculated sound pressure level and the background sound level. Both of these levels being measured one metre from the boundary of the site and predicted back to one metre from the façade of the nearest noise sensitive premises. This is likely to be provided in the form of a noise impact assessment.
