The vitality and viability of centres is affected by the balance of uses within them. This needs to be appropriately managed to ensure centres remain attractive locations for shoppers, with the primary focus on retail use. A strategic objective of the Plan Strategy (PS) is to support local economies by promoting development of suitable land and buildings to provide sustainable access to retail and other main town centre uses.
