Examples and Change of Use Requirements for Hot Food Takeaways

Hot food takeaways include kebab shops, pizza shops, and Chinese takeaways. When the takeaway element of a premises equals or exceeds the non-takeaway element, a change of use application is required. Hot food bars in newsagents, petrol stations, and supermarkets are typically ancillary and outside local planning authority control.

Examples of hot food takeaways include kebab shops, pizza shops and Chinese takeaway shops; however cafes and restaurants often have an ancillary takeaway element. Where the takeaway element of a premises is equal to or larger than the non-takeaway element, then an application should be made for change of use.
